A response to the earthquake in Japan: London Japanese Rugby Club and Belsize Park RFC team up to host a 10-a-side rugby tournament in support of the “Play for Japan” initiative. The goal is to raise awareness (and funds) for the Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund.
12 teams in London are uniting to support the Japan Society of London’s fundraising effort as part of the “Play for Japan” initiative. Please come and support us while enjoying a great day of rugby and various activities including food and excellent raffle prizes.
The action will take place at Richmond Athletic Ground, Richmond, TW9 2SS on Saturday, 2 April, 2011 from 12:00 to 17:00.
As the chilling events of 11th March unfolded, young Japanese people in the UK recoiled at the sight of family and friends being torn apart by the ferocity of the earthquake and tsunami which followed. Working together with their non-Japanese friends and colleagues to facilitate a wide range of events throughout the UK, social media is helping them to rebuild their connections with home and make a practical contribution to the rebuilding of the communities with which they are connected.
