RuckinRugby win WoTM Award
We are really chuffed, after 10 years in business to first be nominated for and then, have won 3rd place in the Heartinternet Website of The Month Competition. We did it with what we all think is our most successful RuckinRugby project to date, the Xodus Wasps Dubai RFC site. It is extra nice to have handed over the new site to their newly installed Director of Rugby, Martin Southern – as Martin gave us essentially our first opportunity in the Middle East back in 2007, with the website and player registration system for the AGRFU.
The Xodus Wasps Dubai site was the first club site we built using the new Themeboy plug-in, instead of the full theme. It is a WordPress build, with the Avada theme laid on top and then integrated with the Fixtures/Results plug-in, among many others. The Wasps have been one of the few clubs to fully engage with their end of the deal, collecting player profiles and getting professional photos taken – the difference is quite clear.
The first thing Wasps asked for was to make sure their site looked like no-one elses that I had created in the UAE, like the Sharks or the Dragons etc – I think we’ve definitely achieved that. You can see the website here:
Once the site was designed and built, there were some tweaks asked for by their sponsor – to work their identity into the design. We also tried out some things for the first time, like the full player profiles and the sidebar including a feed from an Instagram account, all of which has come off really well.
The Wasps are playing in the Dubai 7s as I type this and so far, they’re going well. Once Christmas is done and dusted, the domestic season will re-start and we will see the Gulf Top 6 Competition begin, as well as seeing the conclusion of the UAE Conference as it splits in to two halves. We wish the wasps and our other teams well.
If you would like a website like this for your team, club or union – then drop us a line. This website costs a little more than £500 a season, which really is incredible value for money.
